Exploring the Industrialization of FSW for FEV Battery Trays

                                      24.10.2024

STIR4STEEL consortium partner Aritex has been evaluating the industrialization of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) for assembling an innovative car battery tray.

This simulation demonstrates the potential of joining dissimilar materials like steel and aluminum, paving the way for a strong, lightweight, and efficient manufacturing solution based on FSW.

FSW offers:

  • enhanced structural performance

  • weight reduction & improved efficiency

  • a sustainable and cost-effective approach

While not yet in factory production, this study highlights the possibilities for the future of EV battery tray manufacturing.
