Stirtec GmbH is a leading high-tech company in the field of Friction Stir Welding (FSW), located in Premstätten, Styria (Austria). Stirtec was initially established in 2010 as a spin-off of Graz University of Technology in the Science Park Graz to exploit the commercial potential of the Friction Stir Welding technology for industrial applications. The face-to-face Consortium meeting took place in person on 6th and 7th September 2023 in Geesthacht, Germany, hosted by the project partner HEREON.
During Day 1, a technical workshop called “Project Workshop 2023 - Al/steel dissimilar joints by refill FSSW and FSW” was organised by HEREON, where stakeholders from industries (manufacturers of welding machines and providers of welding solutions.) and universities (Researchers specializing in welding technologies) participated. The workshop has significantly enhanced communication among participants, particularly regarding the remarkable advancements in dissimilar Al-steel joining.
Day 2 focused on a detailed discussion about the current status and achievements and preparation for the Review meeting for the 1st Periodic Report.
