various perspectives to be considered

The project’s LCA activities focus also on the assessment of the environmental situation of automotive reference demonstrators, which includes existing conventional joints, materials etc. These calculated data serves as baseline scenarios and will be compared with the developed new demonstrators and its novel technologies.

In order to run a holistic LCA a development roadmap was designed, questionnaires for partners to obtain required data were elaborated, a process chain was developed and systematic literature research was carried out. Afterwards first baseline calculations (global warming potentials) of the reference demonstrators, which were selected together with the partners, were performed. These calculations will be used as a baseline and roadmap for creating the envisaged comparative LCA. The figure below shows the structure of the holistic LCA which will be done based on the ISO 14040/44 standard.
